COMMON REED
‘Phragmites Australis’

A broadly distributed wetland multipurpose grass (member of the True Grass family).

They are used in construction for thatched roofs, walls, partitions, fences, and as insulation material.

Many products are made of their stems and leaves: Baskets and mats plaiting, clothing and cordage, the production of musical instruments (flutes and whistles), arrows, light spears, fishing gear, ornaments, jewelry, prayer sticks and smoking pipes
